After much deliberation, research, and negotiating, I finally got the car I’ve wanted for many a year, and it was a crazy journey to get it this weekend.

My wife and I fought through Memorial Day traffic at the IL/IN border en route to far western PA last night. We stayed at a cheap hotel in a small town where the dealer selling this SS. Negotiations, financing, and PPI’s were all complete before I showed up, so we signed everything and drove off!

Rather than taking it easy, we drove the 7 hours back home today, with stops in every state along the way (PA, OH, IN) to see friends. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed getting acquainted with this fantastic car.

Manuel is not present in this vehicle. It’ll be my daily, and I very much wanted remote start on Midwest winter mornings.

You probably saved a small fortune too. Manuel SS’ are often listed for over 42 grand.

The only options on this car were: Transmission, color, sunroof, spare tire. This car is painted in Slipstream Blue Metallic, auto, sunroof, no spare. Everything Doug DeMuro talks about on his SS review is there, minus the manual gearbox.

I’ve wanted a Stateside legal Commodore since the G8 was a new car, and when these started falling into my affordability range, I started scouting the best option based on color (wanted blue, orange, or Jungle Green ) and price.

The SS market in more, um...unusual colors (read: not black, white, silver, red) has gone bonkers this spring period. Low-mileage Orange Blasts went from selling for High 30's/Low 40's (both auto/manual) to $43-46k almost overnight.

You can get remote start with a stick? At least my 2002 Subaru Impreza used to have it. Think it might’ve been aftermarket though.

Congrats! Love the SS (test drove a 2014)  One of the best sleepers of the decade, period!

I would like to see what MPG you get thru your ownership because as rated by the EPA it’s abysmal.

It was the only stick rwd v8 sedan before m3 territory. Also the costs on the SS were always high due to the low rates of  importation
